Ian McDonald is Emeritus Professor in Economics at the University of Melbourne. His areas of research and teaching are behavioural economics and macroeconomics, which include a particular interest in the economics of ageing. He is a Joint Editor of the Australian Economic Review and a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, Australia. Ian McDonald's research into the economics of ageing focuses on examining the influence of both private and public/government decision-making and behavioural biases on the economic well-being of older people.
