Welcome back to effective communication. So, I want to talk a little bit about the structure of the course overall. As you know, the course breaks down communication into three separate categories. The first, taught by Quentin is written communication then Dave follows up with design. And then I conclude the course with public speaking. Now you can take it in any which way you want. You can start with public speaking and move to writing and cut back to design. The course is designed to be interlocked. But the course is greater than the sum of those parts. The course really comes together it synthesizes. When the rubber hits the road in Capstone. >> I'm so sorry I can't believe I left my phone look it's Peymon. >> Peymon, cool man. >> Peymon, how are you? >> Hi Quintin I'm just checking in how are you doing? >> Well actually we're filming right now. >> Hi Peymon! >> Hey Peymon. >> Hey William, hey Dave, good to see you. >> We were just talking about the Capstone, could you explain a little bit about why Coursera likes the Capstone so much? What does the Capstone bring to a course? >> Capstones are an exciting project, because it's the culmination of everything you've learned across these set of courses in this specialization. And what's exciting about them is that it is a practical manifestation, a project that you could share with the world, with an employer, with a friend, that you have mastered a set of skills that will make you successful in whatever you're pursuing. And Coursera will be providing video feedback on our top Capstone projects, right? >> So, the skills you'll learn in this specialization are skills that will last a lifetime. I was a teacher, I needed to know how to design really good lesson plans from a writing perspective, I needed to know how to create slide decks that were engaging. I need to know how to present material clearly and effectively and inspirationally to my students. And all of those skills that I developed as a teacher you'll learn in this specialization and those skills I could apply, again when I was negotiating contracts with school districts, when I was working for an education nonprofit. And I apply them here everyday when I have a meeting with 15 other people on my team, and I have to report out on our biggest opportunities for working with universities. I have to be clear. I have to be concise. I have to be succinct. And those skills help me in the job that I have at Coursera. I'll let you all get back to work. We're really excited to see the projects that come out of the Capstone Course in this specialization. Good luck to all the learners, and we cannot wait to see what you have to produce for the specialization. >> Bye Peymon. >> Bye Peymon. >> See you later Peymon. >> Bye you guys. >> I'm so glad Peymon called because it gives us a chance to talk a little bit more about the Capstone. So, the Capstone is where all three MOOC courses come together each course will teach you some basic principles about writing, about design, and about public speaking. But the Capstone is where those principles come together. It's where you express yourself in writing, in visuals, and publicly speaking. So the Capstone's going to have two elements. One will be a case study, and if you so choose you can use our elements and put together your own work. You'll upload that and the MOOC community will give you a critique, it's great. But our challenge Capstone asks you to do it on your own. To go out into the world, to deliver a presentation at your work place, to work at a community organization. Whether that's you school or your church or your synagogue or your mosque but to engage with the world that Capstone really asks you to become your personal brand. So, I hope you follow us all the way through these courses. And I hope you take the Capstone, and I hope it tests you, and you discover that you can do this.
