Why am I taking this course? The questions that you have just answered are worth being asked regularly. Steve Jobs had his fun when talking about this matter. He said: "I read somewhere that if you live every day, as if it is the last day of your life, one day it makes sense." So he stood up in front of the mirror and asked himself this question: "If today was the last day, would I be doing the same thing as I am doing now?" And if for several days in a row the answer is no, something has to be changed. So, if you have just found out that you need to change something, and these questions are of any help, then ... Welcome on our course! There will be many tasks difficult for you to perform: unpleasant and uncomfortable. And, unfortunately, this is an indispensable element of self-development. If every day we do something that is comfortable for us and we repeat it exactly the same way, doing the same actions, expecting something different would be a classic delusion. If we want to create something new, we need to do something new today. And this, most likely, will be uncomfortable and inconvenient. And to remember what we are doing, we need to fulfill a small task. It will help you when it is hard and uncomfortable for you to keep in mind why you are doing this. We call it a "motivation list". Always keep this motivational list in sight, as we will often turn to it. In difficult situations it will serve as a reminder of why you should continue practising. So, you have a workbook called "Notes on paper tissues." And there should be a page called "Motivation list". It has three very important lines. The first line is your dream task. This is actually the great goal we will be striving for. And make sure that you have one that inspires you. Write it down, please. Numerous studies confirm that if you can express in words and write down the task you're working on, it is about 10 times more likely to be fulfilled. If you have some idea of the task you are working on, it is a good start, but it is much more efficient to write it down. And it's quite difficult, if you don’t know what you want. Then it is not clear how to help you and what you are working for. So, the first line in the "motivation list". Please write down the task you are working on. Well, for example, "I am looking for a dream job", or "I’m trying to choose an occupation that will inspire me in the mornings or 24/7", or "I can’t feel I am using my inner potential to the full, and my task is to find how I can realize myself ". Or "I just want to smile more and feel happy." Please, formulate a task, on which you will be working with pleasure. Remembering this task should fuel you, motivate you. It will give you the strength and energy that will help you to go through obstacles. And when someone tries to put a spoke in your wheel, we will break it using this energy. Make sure that you have the answer to the question: "What am I working for?" First of all, in this course. So that you could understand why you are doing this difficult task today, could remember, looking at this motivation list, and got the answer to the question. And could move on. What else is there on the motivation list? The second line is the "carrot" you get, if your dream comes true. If the thing you are working on, making efforts for, is fulfilled. Well, for example, you are now dreaming of a happy family or a career, where you will be a fully realized creator, where you will create something new that no one has ever created before. And every next day, every next step, you have a back-up – a motive. The words "motive" and "move", from Latin, have the same root, this is what stimulates you to act. So, please, the "carrot" that you will get in the case of realizing your dream, if you implement the task you are currently working on, describe it in the perfect form. There is also a third line on the motivation list: "What will happen if I do not make any efforts at all?" Remember, personality presupposes the ability to resist external signals. Once again. Personality presupposes the ability to resist external signals. If you do not resist external signals, if you do not overcome laziness, if you do not turn on your willpower, do not make an effort, nothing terrible will happen, by the way. We call this a "conservative scenario". Please, fill in the third line. If you do not make any efforts, if you let it all go by itself, let it drift, the good news is: you will not die at once, you will need to try harder than that. Even if you just lie on a bench in the park, you will be taken somewhere, fed there, be forced to eat or be given an injection. That is to say, for a long time you will be maintained in a viable state. And I'm certainly exaggerating now, but nothing terrible will happen if you stay on the same job as you are now. Nothing terrible will happen if you do not strengthen your career positions or do not learn new things or move through this discomfort, through the obstacles. Nothing terrible. Somehow you will be fed, something will be going on. Please write it down in the third line, let's call it a "conservative scenario". Predict your life, for example, two years ahead, five years ahead. And imagine a scenario, in which you made no efforts and are subject to that very procrastination, you postpone the decision-making for later. Do I have to study today? Not necessarily. I can do it tomorrow. My exams are coming. It’s not a big deal. If I wait a couple of days, nothing terrible will happen. Some next step at work. I can wait and not do it, no one is asking for it for now. It's okay, I can postpone. And so we are living in this trend. And please describe your life in two years, in three, in five. Describe who you communicate with, how much you earn, how you feel, how your health is, what kind of people surround you. Do not be shy! This is a reminder we will be turning to regularly. I will say such phrases as: "You don’t have to do anything", "There is no need to look for your dream job", "You don’t have to make a decision and move forward" "It's okay! Take a look at your conservative scenario." It is this line that we will be turning to regularly: "It's okay, you will not die!" TV series, kitchen garden, fastfood, death – everything is fine! This is a very popular strategy. By the way, out of 100 listeners of our course, which scenario, do you think, will 95 choose? So, please, now fill in the motivation list. My big goal, dream task that I am working on. If it suddenly comes true, I will feel awesome. Line number 2 — describe how you will feel, what will be the buzz from achieving this great goal. And line number 3 — "If I don’t make any efforts, everything will go on as usual. Nothing terrible will happen. Here's my conservative scenario. "Imagine it and write it down. And believe me, we will need this list many times during the course, by the way, even in the next videos, when we will be looking for a dream job, working out hypotheses. We are going to have a lot of work to do. We will be coming back to the list over and over again. So, now it is time to fill in the motivation list in great detail. Good luck!
