This video explains the portfolio learning activity for the nursing informatics leadership specialization. This capstone assignment is required for completion of this specialization. There are three parts of the portfolio learning activity. Part one is to compile materials into a portfolio. Part two is to reflect on learning in a peer-reviewed paper, and part three, which is optional, is to write a letter from your future self. The purpose of this three-part portfolio learning activity is to help you synthesize your learnings in the nursing informatics leadership specialization. Each course in the specialization provided you an experience to advance and deepen your leadership skill set. In course one, you had the opportunity to take the Minnesota Nursing Informatics Leadership Inventory. In course two, you interviewed a nursing informatics professional. In course three, you developed a personal leadership mission statement based on an assessment and reflection of your personal values. In course four, you created a course leadership plan and syllabus to support a nursing informatics course. Finally, in course five, you crafted a team mission, vision, and value statements, and norms document. You can create your nursing informatics leadership portfolio by compiling these documents either on paper or electronically. This portfolio is for your own use. You may share it with colleagues or fellow students if desired. It is not graded. For portfolio learning activity part two reflection paper, you will review and synthesize your learning from this specialization and write a five to seven page reflection paper that answers the following questions. What did you appreciate most about what you learned in this specialization? What are your future commitments to action based on your new insights and learnings? This reflection paper must be submitted for peer review rating. Here's the peer review rubric for reflection paper. Two reviewers will rate each of the below as poor zero points, good one point or excellent two points for up to 12 total points. Passing is seven or more points. There are six criteria. Criterion one is to identify two to three key ideas or components of your experience upon which to concentrate your reflection and discussion. As you consider the many ideas we explored in this course, some of them will rise to the top as ah-ha moments or ideas that enriched your leadership skill set. These examples are just a starting point to help you begin your reflection. Review materials and discussions from the five courses to select key ideas. There is no limit to the number of key ideas you include in your paper, except the five to seven pages which are recommended for your essay. Criterion two is to clearly introduce the focus of your synthesis or reflection. To do so, you may wish to begin your paper with a few sentences similar to these. In this paper, I will reflect on the key ideas from the nursing informatics leadership specialization that transformed my thinking about nursing informatics leadership. These key ideas are, and then list the key ideas you have selected. Criterion three is to clearly discuss the two to three key ideas. My first key idea was that listening is a difficult or impossible skill for human beings, Saylor Academy 2012. I compared my experience of listening to the description in the reading and found several similarities between my experience and the concepts and principles described by the authors. Picking up where we left off in the previous slide, extend your reflection with one or more examples of meaning that occurred to you as reflected on the key point. Criterion five is summarize your reflections overall and tell your new insights will lead to changes in your nursing informatics leadership behaviors.
