Nobody likes to hear somebody tell you how they're going to change
society when they don't themselves appear to live by
the principles that they are upholding.
Nobody likes to be in that position of having to listen to
somebody telling you how their project benefits the well-being of
people on the other side of the planet when they themselves are
suffering ill-being and stress. Let's be honest: under these conditions
most people hear the general idea but don't necessarily listen and
quickly become very critical, which often leads the project leader to
enter into a process of argument and persuasion that consumes
an inordinate amount of their time and resources
without really guaranteeing them that people will give their
commitment and energy in the end.
