Now we're going to set up the drum kit in Ableton Live. For this we're going to use the Ableton Live's Drum Rack. On the left over here in the categories, we have drums and you can see here, there's the drum rack. I'm going to drag this over to an empty area in my session and now Ableton creates a MIDI track with the drum rack loaded in. I'm going to arm the track so the MIDI for my EDI goes over to this particular track and if you notice when I play on the controller, you will see corresponding LEDs light up on the drum rack. All right, now let's go ahead and add in the drum samples into this drum rack. I'm going to work with some basic samples. Just a kick, snare, closed hi-hat and an open hi-hat. These are the samples. [SOUND] So I want the kick to be placed over here on this button. So I'm just going to drag over that kick sample and drop it right here. [SOUND] All right that works and now I'm going to do the same for the snare. I want to place it right after this on this button. [SOUND] I want the hi-hat, the close hi-hat on this button here. [SOUND] And then lastly the open hi-hat on this button over here. [SOUND] So now we have the full sounds in our drum kit. [SOUND] I'm noticing some inconsistencies in terms of level, that snare sounds a bit too loud. So let's address that. Inside the drum rack, I'm going to select the snare sound and I'm just going to reduce the volume here. [SOUND] That sounds much better. Before we move on to performing these patterns, we need to address one little thing. [SOUND] And that is regarding the close and open hi-hat. You will notice right now that they both overlap on top of each other. [SOUND] And we do not want that to happen. We want these two samples to choke each other. So back in the drum rack, if I click on this icon over here, we now see the different samples and over here, you see the choke feature. So the two samples that I want to choke are these two. [SOUND] So in order to create that choke, all I need to do is select a choke group from this list over here. So, if I select one over here and for this second sound, also it's at that same choke group. Now when I play, [SOUND] you notice that the two samples choke each other just like on a real drum kit. Now our drum kit is ready, and we're good to play.
