Hello. We'll be talking about the Gallaudet University and Rochester Institute of Technology. Gallaudet University was the first federally chartered university for the deaf. This was a huge deal. It's become sort of a Mecca for the deaf community. It's like everyone's heard of Gallaudet. This four year university is located in Washington, D.C. I could go on and on about Gallaudet. The history is so rich. It's like no other. But, I'll give you a piece of recent history. In 1988, there was a movement called the Deaf President Now, or DPN. Just on that movement alone, we could have a separate topic. But, for purposes of this video, we'll just leave it at that. Moving on to RIT Rochester Institute Technology, it's a two year university located in Rochester, New York. They teach science, engineering, technology, drafting, all under one roof. These two institutions have been, just had a huge impact on the deaf community and we should be thankful for the government's role in supporting them. It's helped impact the deaf community, not only in the United States, but around the world.
