[MUSIC] The topic of this video is the language continuum as you see here. On your left we have ASL and on the right is more of English. And it's a fluent continuum. You can code switch, let's say two deaf people are talking, for example one is uses ASL and one is more of an English signer. They may understand each other. They may borrow each other's signs and use the same sign for a certain thing, or maybe not, just keep using their go to sign language. They don't have to change each other's language just to understand each other. Don't assume that all deaf people use the same language. For example, remember we were talking about home signs? Sometimes a ASL user will go home where he used home signs, and code switched to use the signs that he grew up using with his family. And then later on, you may meet a deaf person and kind of figure out where they are on the continuum, and maybe you can match their sign system. This is a big topic and it's important that you read the article, and that will be your homework.
