[MUSIC] Hello, today's topic is the History of Oppression among the various groups. As you can see here with the visual aids, here on top we've got the black people in America that have suffered greatly. For one, they've got slavery, so many struggles. Or denied access to literature, or not allowed to read. The general population looked down upon them, dismissed them. Women in America. We've got three examples again. There was not a universal suffrage, so they couldn't vote. They did not have the same work your opportunities as men. If they wanted to work, they still couldn't. If they wanted to buy property, they couldn't. And that time it was patriarchal society, and even if they wanted to buy property they were not allowed to. The Latino population. Their voting rights were limited. They were required to speak English. If they were caught speaking their native language, there was discrimination that they faced. All the different groups in America looked down upon them. Now, the deaf community, we understand the struggle that they've experienced.
