Hello and welcome back. In this video, we're going to discuss an assignment for you to create a breathtaking [NOISE] promotional strategy. Let's begin. In week number two with Michelle you created a digital artifact. And so now we're going to look at your digital artifact that you created, which I am sure that is fantastic and mind blowing. But we have to let the world know how fantastic and mind blowing your digital artifact is. Again, this exercise is for us to learn how to promote or advertise whatever artifact we want the world to know. So that's what this assignment's intent is. Now, this is an assignment that you're going to be able to share with your colleagues and receive some feedback. Please remember, as it was with our last assignment, that you need to respond to three of your colleagues and provide the same type of feedback for them as they provide for you. And of course we have included a rubric, which is very similar to a prior rubric in the ways of making sure that a person can clearly articulate their ideals and thoughts as well as be able to go into more information and detail about what they're actually trying to do. So let's begin. In your digital artifact, we want to be careful and cognizant of thinking about all the things that we have learned prior to this assignment, such as your self-marketing strategies. Now, there were five of them that we discussed in a prior class and just as a recap, we talked about positioning strategy. We also talked about a distribution strategy. We talked about a contact strategy, public relations, and advertising. Now you might want to use any one of these self-marketing strategies to be able to advertise and promote your digital artifact that you have already created. Matter of fact, just as a reference I would actually utilize probably more than one for my digital artifact because each self-marketing strategy has different outcomes that are desired. So, we want to make sure that for your assignment, that you describe your artifact. What is it? How was it created? What's its purpose? And most importantly, what's your desired outcome? How are you going to promote it? And what do you expect to see as a result of your promotion? By you thinking from the outcome backwards it helps you begin to realize and visualize the things or steps necessary for your desired outcome to come to fruition. So this is going to be an assignment that's about three to five pages. You want to describe your self-marketing strategy that you're utilizing and why you're utilizing that one. For example, if I go back to my example that I had in previous slides to becoming a plant manager and say I create a digital artifact of a presentation, a presentation that I recorded, because one of my competencies that I wanted to improve upon was oral communication, now that I've raised that proficiency, I want to show the world. So, one of the things I might do in a positioning strategy is create a video which is digital. And then, I might submit off to some headhunters or some staffing agencies that all specialize in finding plant managers in the manufacturing industry. I might use contacts in a way of sharing my information in association and send it through their website or through their email contacts. So again, they can see my high level proficiency for all communication and be able to share that. So by increasing my contact, I can also delve into another self marketing strategy such as networking, again increasing my networking. I might want to post it on my Facebook or use another social media medium like LinkedIn where I can have my resume profiles and any links that I want to include. Now, after I begin to market and promote this digital artifact, how will I know that it's successful? This is very important that you want to hone in on, what types of things will I see as an attribute of my success? And if I do not see those things coming to path, what is my plan B? How will I alter my method, or maybe even choose a different marketing advertisement? Again, I want to take note of what's working and what's not working. So, please share this, think about it, work through it, like I said you want to keep it between three to five pages. Utilize the rubric which talks about a person being able to clearly articulate, what is their plan to find, that they have measurables and time tables, were they able to have a plan B? Do you clearly able to understand what it is they're marketing, why they're marketing, their purpose and their desired outcome? These are the same things that you want to be able to complete your assignment in those parameters. Again, I'm Dr. John Beckham and thank you for watching this video.
