О курсе

The COVID-19 crisis has created an unprecedented need for contact tracing across the country, requiring thousands of people to learn key skills quickly. The job qualifications for contact tracing positions differ throughout the country and the world, with some new positions open to individuals with a high school diploma or equivalent. In this introductory course, students will learn about the science of SARS-CoV-2 , including the infectious period, the clinical presentation of COVID-19, and the evidence for how SARS-CoV-2 is transmitted from person-to-person and why contact tracing can be such an effective public health intervention. Students will learn about how contact tracing is done, including how to build rapport with cases, identify their contacts, and support both cases and their contacts to stop transmission in their communities. The course will also cover several important ethical considerations around contact tracing, isolation, and quarantine. Finally, the course will identify some of the most common barriers to contact tracing efforts -- along with strategies to overcome them....

This course gives great examples related to how to integrate character development through teacher feedback in a positive, respective and encouraging manner that develops resiliency and self-efficacy.

The course is easily compared with corporate retail computer based trainings that I have done throughout the years. What that means is that it suffers from a variety of flaws that are a mix of educators/managers having limited subject knowledge, unclear instructions, and a very low expectation of the abilities of the student. It presents the idea that, if a case or contact is obviously unhappy, the contact tracer must have done something wrong. If a case is not immediately receptive to the contact tracer, the contact tracer is too inept to handle the situation and should immediately hand it over to the supervisor. I counted 3 completely wrong answers in quizzes and the final test. Some vignettes did not match the course material in the videos they were part of. Finally, the technology section needs to be scrapped. The instructor has no subject knowledge and went off on a political tangent on how China and Korea were doing everything right by tracking their citizen's every move. The instructor even went as far as suggesting a non-existent, near impossible to regulate app that would have a similar effect in the US.

The content of this course is amazing and very informative. The reason I am giving this course a one star is because of a fault on Coursera's part. There is no way to complete this course on the app and they also don't give you a solution on how to overcome this problem. So out of sheer luck, I thought of going to the web site and trying. Also, the tech support to help try to fix this problem was a feeble attempt at writing a FAQ. On top of that, there seem to be no actual human beings working in tech support since I received no e-mails or contact from them after sending in my "support logs" for 3 days straight.

Worth what you pay for it: $0

Horrifying that trained nurses would need such basic info. There is about 15 minutes of useful info about infectious/incubation periods. The rest is a social justice justification for collecting and disseminating PHI, as well as an elementary communication lesson, like not being too obnoxious or controlling and acting like you care about what the person is saying. Some advice borders on what strikes me as a legal risk and there is no discussion forum in which to ask questions.

Absolutely no medical evidence to support this view. Secondly it truly disturbs me that two different x-rays of the chest were used instead of before or after Covid illness.

Thirdly, it really disturbs me that on going phone calls are being made to ill people. People claiming to have COVID. Those people would be unable to carry on such rudimentary conversations. When they are coughing their heads off, are short of breath and have a fever. Waste of time.

I started the class late because I heard about it via social media, thought it would be a great course to take. I took it & the internet went out so I waited until after the holiday and finished it. I passed and I’m not getting a certificate after all that work, nothing to show like my friend. It never said anything about not receiving one. I’m so upset.

Course takes a heavy-handed and condescending approach to interacting with people and seems to have been written by someone with a very low emotional intelligence. Additionally, it posits that contact tracing 'serves as a public good and is based on the principles of justice' which is an abhorrent statement in relation to individual liberty.

There needs to be a version that allows you to skip most of the stuff already common to health care workers where the presenter doesn't talk as though she's talking to a 2-year-old.

Listening to one persons voice for many hours was very irritating, Especially if you do not like the voice. Supplemental infographics would enhance this course.

Very manipulative and deceptive. Way too much time spent trying to assert the ethic of this process. If it is ethical, then why waste so much time?

Really felt five hours of video were unnecessary and a written abridged version would have been more helpful. 95% of this information I already knew.
