Timo Minssen

Associate Professor

Bio

Dr. Timo Minssen is Associate Professor of IP- & Innovation Law at the University of Copenhagen, Centre for Information & Innovation Law (CIIR). He has also been Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Oxford (2014), as well as guest scholar at Harvard Law School (2013/14), Chicago-Kent College of Law (2007) and at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation & Competition Law (2005-2006) in Munich. He holds a German law degree from the University of Göttingen, as well as Swedish LL.D. and LL.M. degrees from the Universities of Uppsala and Lund. In addition he worked for shorter periods at the European Patent Office, life science companies, international law firms, and conducted studies in epigenetics at the Pufendorf Institute for Advanced Studies in Lund. He is co- leading the Copenhagen Biotech & Pharma Forum and leads legal WPs in 4 interdisciplinary pharma- & biotech- related research projects concerning User Generated Law, Synthetic Biology, Biobanking and large research infrastructures, such as the European Spallation Source and Synchrotron Radiation Facilities. Timo has published more than 30 peer-reviewed articles in internationally renowned journals and received the Swedish King Oscar II stipendium for his PhD thesis “Assessing the Inventiveness of Biopharmaceuticals under European and US Patent Law” (2012).
