Angus Mackay is a climate change adaptation specialist and lead trainer at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research. He heads UNITAR’s climate change programme which provides training and capacity development services to public sector organisations in developing countries. Skills development is a strategic issue that underpins the effectiveness of all climate change policies, plans and programmes, as well as broader development policy.

UNITAR undertakes skills assessments to help countries better understand their learning needs and supports the development of national climate change learning strategies. This includes a strong focus on evaluation for results. Angus Mackay has previously worked for a range of international organisations including the UN Department for Peace Keeping Operations, United Nations Development Programme, UK Department for International Development, World Bank, as well as private sector environmental consulting firms.
