Dr Andrea D Ellis

Course Organiser, Equine Digestion and Nutrition

Bio

For the upcoming session of Equine Nutrition, Dr Andrea Ellis is taking over the reins from Dr Jo-Anne Murray as Course Instructor. Dr Andrea Ellis completed her PhD (Applied Biology: Comparative Animal Physiology) in 2003 at Writtle College, Essex University. The focus of her research was on food intake behaviour and digestive processes in horses and sheep. During and after this she worked as a Scientific Researcher at the Research Institute for Applied Husbandry, Wageningen University Research, The Netherlands. From 2004-2012 Andrea worked at Nottingham Trent University as Senior Lecturer, where she was programme leader and led the design of the MSc in Equine Health and Welfare. Dr Ellis is very active in national and international equine science, nutrition and education focus groups, was Chair of the Equine Science Education Working Group of the European Association of Animal Production (EAAP) until 2012, and Co-chaired the European Workshop on Equine Nutrition (Cirencester, 2010). In 2012 Dr Ellis founded her own company: UNEQUI Science and Creativity. Dr Ellis is course organiser for the Equine Digestion and Nutrition course as part of the on-line Equine Science programme at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies.
